Tort Reform Could Save $54 Billion, CBO Says

The Democrats won't go along with Tort reform because it's opposed by the trial lawyers. And trial lawyers are major donors to the Democratic Party.
in reference to:
"Congressional budget analysts said Friday that lawmakers could save as much as $54 billion over the next decade by imposing an array of new limits on medical malpractice lawsuits -- 10 times more than previously estimated.

New research shows that legal reforms would not only lower malpractice insurance premiums for medical providers, but also would spur providers to save money by ordering fewer tests and procedures aimed primarily at defending their decisions in court, Douglas W. Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, wrote in a letter to  Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah)."

Israel: If Iran not Sanctioned by Christmas we Attack

It has been the goal all along for Israel to bomb Iran. They hoped that the sycophants in Washington would do it. But that isn't forthcoming. Needless to say, the consequences of such an attack would be catastrophic.
in reference to:
"Iran's ambassador to the UN, Mohammad Khazaee, sent a letter of protest to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moonin which he wrote that "there is no explanation for Israel's continuing threats against Tehran".

He was referring to an interview given by former Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh to the Sunday Times in which he said that if Iran were not further sanctioned by this Christmas Israel would attack the country."

4,000 Foreigner Fighters join Taliban: Afghan Gov't

This is another reason why we need to get out of there. The war is a magnet for militants throughout the Muslim world. We are beginning to look the Soviets to the Afghan people, eventhough there is no comparison. Repeated killings of civilians has helped to create negative image of presence in Afghanistan. This is what happened in Iraq. We were viewed initially as liberators but became oppressors with time.

"Thousands of foreign fighters have poured into Afghanistan to bolster the Taliban insurgency, the country's defense minister said Saturday as he called for more international troops."

Biggest Winners in Health Care Reform: Republican States

The states with the worst health care systems, least insured, and worst off in medical attention, are Republican. How ironic is that.

Limbaugh Criticized for wanting to Buy Rams

NFL players should stand up and vow that they will not play for a bigot like Rush Limbaugh. If the talk show flame thrower fails that would send a message to other bigots that hate will not be tolerated. Already some sponsors have pulled out of the Glenn Beck show for his hateful words.

Can Obama Make Peace with Gays?

This is what happens when you try to be all things to all people.

in reference to:

"In an attempt to regain dwindling gay support, President Barack Obama is set to address a room of decked-out, well-heeled politicos at the Human Rights Campaign on Saturday night. As the self-proclaimed “largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender civil-rights organization,” the HRC might seem the natural place for Obama to amass support. But the gay community is unlikely to be placated by either the speech or the venue. Members of the gay community who are already angry at the administration for its weak defense of gay rights are also turning on established gay-lobbying groups like the HRC that some say have traded protest signs for cocktail glasses."

Solar power outshining Colorado's gas industry

"For the Shaw brothers, who converted the downtown arts building and community center into a miniature solar power plant two years ago, each reverse rotation subtracts from their monthly electric bill. It also means the building at that moment is producing more electricity from the sun than it needs."
