The Quagmire in Afghanistan gets Deeper

The situation is so bad in Afghanistan that the government has to be dragged kicking and screaming into the age of democracy. And these are people we are depending up to stave the Taliban. The enemy, in the meantime, has become an Fortune 500-type operation, or a Mexican Cartel, whom have taken to turning our troops into drug addicts as a strategy. And where are our allies? They are abandoning ship, of course. Making it even worse is the situation in Pakistan. The Taliban are on the march in that country as well. And with all of these problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan, we are still in Iraq.

Rush Limbaugh's Racist Remarks

There is much more. Tell me these are not racist, or at least racially insensitive.

in reference to:

"“We are being told that we have to hope [Obama] succeeds, that we have to bend over, grab the ankles … because his father was black.”
“I do believe” Obama is an “angry black guy.”
“[I]n Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering.”
“Obama’s entire economic program is reparations.”
Obama is “more African in his roots than he is American” and is “behaving like an African colonial despot.”
Obama is “Halfrican-American.”"

Taliban Secret Weapon: U.S. Troops Heroin Addiction

It's Vietnam all over again.

in reference to:

"As the U.S. postpones a decision on Afghanistan, Gerald Posner reports on a new secret weapon in the arsenal of the Taliban and Al Qaeda: getting the Army addicted to their cheap heroin.
Forty years ago, the Vietnam War was partly undermined by heroin addiction among U.S. troops. Surely mindful of that, the Taliban and al Qaeda are now using Afghanistan’s bountiful heroin supplies as a tactical weapon. An internal U.S. intelligence report has concluded that the two groups are targeting American troops in an effort to undermine their effectiveness, while raising cash to pay for new recruits and weaponry, a U.S. intelligence official tells The Daily Beast."

Full results show AIDS vaccine is of modest help

We still need to know what AIDS is before we can treat or cure it.

in reference to:

"Fresh results from the world's first successful test of an experimental AIDS vaccine confirm that it is only marginally effective and suggest that its protection against HIV infection may wane over time."

Nev. man accused of DUI for 3rd time in 17 days

The government has to start treating drunking driving as a serious crime. It is why so many of our neighbors are losing the lives on the road everyday. And it could happen to you or I. Will we ever learn?

in reference to:

"A 50-year-old Reno man has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving for the third time in less than three weeks. Reno Police Sgt. Tom Robinson said the man was stopped Monday afternoon on a U.S. Highway 395 off-ramp on the south end of town after a concerned citizen alerted police about his erratic driving. He said a check of the man's police record found he had been arrested on the same charge two other times since Oct. 2."
