Obama Visit to Ground Zero was a Cheap Photo-Op Stunt
It's amusing listening to the attempts to justify the President's visit to New York yesterday. It was an impromptu political stunt done simply to capitalize his killing of Bin Laden. You have a lot of work to still do, Mr.President. You gloat now. But pretty soon you'll be defending yourself against charges you are inept. Enjoy it while you can because there won't many more successes:
The president saw the bronze plaques with the names of the companies' fallen. But he shared a hearty firehouse meal (eggplant parmesan, mesclun salad, a shrimp-and-scallops dish), joked and talked sports.
From there, Obama dropped in on a police precinct and laid a wreath at ground zero in front of a "survivor tree" that somehow lived through the attacks. The ceremony was nearly silent and entirely nonpolitical; there were officials from both parties, and Rudolph Giuliani — the Republican mayor whose stewardship during the dark days of September 2001 is legendary — escorted Obama to the firehouse.

Don't Release Photos, Show to Congress and Press
There is a simple solution that will help answer the questions from the public. It would also silence the conspiratorialists and Republican opportunists. Show the photos the members of Congress and some news outlets. This would put kibosh on those who would use this matter like the Donald Trump uses the birther issue to attack Obama. It would also stop most of the press' preoccupation with this issue. It would also satisfy the concern that releasing the photos to the world would incite Muslims. We also don't gross pictures on our TV screens at dinner time, with our kids watching.
